How this history is built

  • One row per UTC day. The sell price is what Clover paid per key, the buy price is what a key cost; both are the all-inclusive rates shown on the swap form.
  • The current day is refreshed every 30 minutes from the live rate, so the last value on the chart is today so far and the row settles at midnight UTC.
  • Days before the tracker went live were reconstructed from the key price stamped on every quote Clover issued that day, taking the day's last quote per side as the close. A side with no quotes that day is left blank, never estimated.
  • Raw data: https://api.clover.tf/exchange/key-price-history?days=365 (JSON, up to 730 days with the days parameter, cached five minutes). Free to reuse with a link back to Clover.

Reading the chart

  • Both lines live below the $2.49 Mann Co. Store price: that is the ceiling for keys everywhere, because anyone can buy a key from Valve at that price.
  • The gap between the lines is Clover's spread; it moves with exchange and network costs and with how much stock the treasury and bots hold.
  • Steam sales, new crates and cases, and Scream Fortress or Smissmas move both lines for a few weeks; day-to-day moves are small compared with crypto.
  • Using the sell price: multiply by your key count, or use the key calculator on the price page, to see what a sale is worth today.

Frequently asked questions

What does the TF2 key price history show?

One buy price and one sell price per UTC day in US dollars: the sell price is what Clover paid per key that day, the buy price is what a key cost. Each day's value is the day's closing price, and the series starts on February 15, 2026. Days before the tracker went live were reconstructed from the price stamped on every quote Clover issued that day; a side with no quotes on a given day is left blank rather than estimated.

How much has the TF2 key price changed?

Over the period shown, Clover's sell price ranged from $1.59 to $1.74 per key; today it is $1.635 to sell and $1.65 to buy. Key prices drift with trader demand and Steam events rather than swinging day to day, and always sit below the fixed $2.49 Mann Co. Store price.

Can I download the TF2 key price history?

Yes. The same data is served as JSON at https://api.clover.tf/exchange/key-price-history?days=365 (up to 730 days with the days parameter). It is free to use with attribution to Clover; each point has a day, a buy price and a sell price in USD.

Why is the buy price higher than the sell price?

The gap is Clover's spread: it covers exchange and network fees, price risk while keys and crypto are in transit, and running the bots. Neither price has a fee added on top; the number on the swap form is what you pay or receive.

Is this the Steam Community Market key price?

No. This is the crypto price of a key on Clover, the value of a key in money you can actually withdraw. The Mann Co. Store sells keys at a fixed $2.49 in Steam Wallet funds and Community Market listings float below that in wallet funds that cannot be cashed out; for key-to-refined-metal history inside the TF2 economy see community trackers such as backpack.tf.

How often is the history updated?

The current day's row is refreshed every 30 minutes from the live rate and becomes that day's close at midnight UTC. This page and the JSON endpoint are cached for five minutes.
